MATR Counseling is committed to providing exceptional mental health care through evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy. We prioritize client-centered care and strive to create a safe environment where healing and growth can occur.
Our work is grounded in integrity, compassion, and clinical excellence, with a strong commitment to reducing stigma around mental health and supporting the long-term well-being of individuals, families, and the communities we serve.
Most importantly, we are here to serve our clients with care, humility, and purpose while creating a collaborative environment where meaningful work and genuine connection can coexist. We want to enjoy the work we do together.
At MATR Counseling, we believe that when clinicians feel supported, respected, and free to practice authentically, they are able to provide the highest level of care to their clients.
Our practice was built on the belief that therapy should be a place of safety, not only for the people seeking help, but also for the clinicians providing that care. We are committed to cultivating an environment where clinicians feel valued, trusted, and empowered to use their unique strengths in their work.
MATR Counseling is a collaborative private practice where clinicians support one another, meet weekly to consult on complex cases, and grow together professionally while maintaining the independence that allows each therapist to develop their own clinical voice.
At Mid Atlantic Trauma Recovery, we hold a clear and unwavering standard: if we treat trauma and abuse, it cannot exist within our workplace.
The work we do requires more than clinical skill—it requires an environment grounded in respect, emotional safety, and ethical integrity. We are intentional about cultivating a culture where clinicians, interns, and staff are treated with dignity, care, and professionalism.
This is not a high-conflict or hierarchical environment. Instead, we prioritize thoughtful communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to doing meaningful work well.
Our goal is to create a space where clinicians feel supported, heard, and able to focus fully on the work that brought them into this profession.
Our team values kindness, professionalism, humility, and collaboration—and we are intentional about protecting that culture.
While MATR Counseling specializes in trauma and abuse recovery, we recognize that every clinician brings their own interests, passions, and areas of expertise.
Some clinicians on our team focus on trauma and abuse recovery. Others specialize in anxiety, ADHD, relationship issues, eating disorders, faith-integrated counseling, or life transitions. Some work with couples and families while others work with only adults or teens and children.
We believe clinicians do their best work when they are able to practice within the areas that genuinely interest them. At MATR Counseling, therapists are encouraged to cultivate their own niche and work with the populations they feel most called to serve.
Your clinical voice matters here.
We trust clinicians as professionals.
Clinicians at MATR Counseling have the flexibility to create schedules that support both their professional goals and personal well-being. Therapists are encouraged to use their clinical judgment and develop treatment approaches that align with their training, experience, and therapeutic style. Clincials have complete autonomy over their schedules and the clients they work with that aligns with their experience and expertise.
Rather than forcing clinicians into a rigid model, we support thoughtful, ethical, and individualized care.
MATR Counseling is committed to supporting the growth of emerging and experienced clinicians. We value curiosity, ongoing learning, and reflective clinical practice.
Clinicians are encouraged to deepen their skills, explore new therapeutic approaches, and continue developing their professional identity. Opportunities for mentorship, case consultation, and collaborative learning are part of our practice culture.
We welcome clinicians who want to bring new ideas to the practice.
Whether that means developing a specialized therapy group, introducing a new clinical focus, or creating innovative intensive programs for clients, we believe clinicians should have space to build and contribute in meaningful ways.
Many of the most impactful services in mental health begin with clinicians who are willing to explore new possibilities.
Burnout is common in our profession, but we believe it does not have to be inevitable.
At MATR Counseling, we prioritize sustainable caseloads, supportive collaboration, and an environment where clinicians feel respected both as professionals and as people.
Our goal is to create a practice where clinicians can build fulfilling, long-term careers while continuing to grow personally and professionally.
MATR Counseling is always interested in connecting with thoughtful, compassionate clinicians who are committed to ethical care and meaningful therapeutic work.
If you are looking for a practice where you can develop your clinical voice, work within your areas of passion, and be part of a supportive professional community, we would love to hear from you.

This is a W-2 therapist position within a supportive group practice.
Clinicians begin part-time while building toward a full-time caseload of approximately 25 sessions per week.
During the part-time phase, compensation includes a clinical administrative rate of $15 per hour and $40 per session. As your caseload increases, your session rate increases.
Once fully licensed, compensation increases to $20 per hour for administrative time and $50 per session, with continued growth as your caseload expands.
We understand that compensation structures in group practices can vary, and we are happy to walk you through this model so you feel confident and informed.
Do you want to make more money and work less hours? At MATR Counseling we offer more than traditional weekly therapy. Our program includes opportunities for clinicians to engage in intensive therapy work, allowing for deeper, more focused client care.
Intensive sessions are designed to provide extended, structured time for trauma processing and are often a strong fit for clients who are ready to move beyond the limitations of the traditional 45–60 minute model.
For clinicians, this creates the opportunity to practice at a higher level of clinical depth while also increasing earning potential. Intensive work is offered outside of insurance and follows a separate fee structure, allowing for greater flexibility in how services are delivered and compensated.
Many of our clinicians find that incorporating intensive work into their schedule not only enhances client outcomes, but also creates a more sustainable and rewarding financial model. Rather than being limited to volume alone, clinicians are able to build a schedule that reflects both the depth of their clinical work and their long-term professional goals.
Clinicians who are trained in or interested in modalities such as EMDR, somatic therapy, and other trauma-focused approaches will find this work especially meaningful and aligned with our model.
We support our clinicians in developing the skills and structure needed to facilitate this level of care, while maintaining a collaborative and supportive team environment.
We are committed to supporting both your clinical and professional growth.
Benefits include CEU allowance, retirement planning options, free EMDR consultation toward certification, and free clinical supervision for those working toward licensure.
Our flexible scheduling allows you to create a sustainable caseload that supports both your career and your life.
Therapists choose MATR because they want more than just a job. They want a place where they can specialize in trauma therapy, grow their clinical expertise, and be part of a supportive, mission-driven team.
We are building something meaningful here—a program that integrates evidence-based trauma treatment with compassionate, client-centered care.
If you are a licensed therapist in Maryland (LCPC or LCSW-C) looking for a full-time counseling position with flexibility, support, and opportunities for growth, we would love to hear from you.
