Our Mission
Mid Atlantic Trauma Recovery (MATR) is committed to providing exceptional mental health care through evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy. We prioritize culturally responsive, client-centered care and strive to create a safe, affirming environment where healing and growth can occur. Our work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and clinical excellence, with a strong commitment to reducing stigma around mental health and supporting the long-term well-being of individuals, families, and the communities we serve. Most importantly, we are here to serve our clients with care, humility, and purpose—while creating a collaborative environment where meaningful work and genuine connection can coexist, and where it is okay to enjoy the work we do together.
Mid Atlantic Trauma Recovery offers a supportive, values-driven work environment designed to help clinicians thrive both professionally and personally. Our incentives include:
Supportive, Abuse-Free, and Values-Driven Culture
MATR is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and abuse-free environment for clinicians, interns, staff, and clients. We foster a strong sense of community through regular check-ins, mentorship, and opportunities for connection. Mutual respect, collaboration, and ethical care are foundational to our culture.
Autonomy and Flexible Practice
Clinicians have the freedom to set their own schedules, choose the client populations they wish to serve, and exercise independent clinical judgment within a trauma-informed framework.
Professional Identity and Clinical Growth
MATR supports clinicians in developing their professional counselor identity, cultivating a niche, and refining their therapeutic craft. We value growth, creativity, and the development of each clinician’s unique clinical voice.
Choice of Clientele and Areas of Focus
Clinicians are encouraged to work within their areas of passion and expertise, including trauma recovery, abuse healing, family therapy, faith-integrated counseling, and other specialty populations. While MATR specializes in trauma and abuse recovery, we recognize that clinicians bring diverse interests and strengths. If trauma- or abuse-focused work is not your primary interest, we collaborate with you to identify a clinical focus that aligns with your skills, values, and professional goals.
Opportunities for Innovation and Leadership
Clinicians are encouraged to introduce new therapeutic approaches, develop specialized groups, and explore creative, trauma-responsive interventions that may not be possible in more rigid settings.
Commitment to Clinician Well-Being
We prioritize clinician wellness and healthy work-life balance, cultivating an environment that supports self-care, sustainability, and long-term professional fulfillment.
